Quick and Simple Tomato Sauce for Pasta

About This Recipe

A tasty but simple, quick classic tomato sauce using canned tomatoes — perfect for pasta.

Ingredients

  • 2 x 400g Crushed Organic Tomatoes canned
  • 2 Garlic cloves peeled and finely chopped or minced
  • 1 Onion chopped (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Sea salt Maldon or similar
  • 1/2 tsp Dried oregano or basil
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh parsley or basil

Instructions

    Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat add the garlic (and onion, if using) and sauté for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

    Add the canned tomatoes, salt, herbs and sugar and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes until thickened to your liking.

    Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings to your liking.

    Serve over hot pasta and garnish with fresh herbs and vegan parmesan or sprinkle with nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavour (optional)
